Rejuvenary River Circus
BY SPECIAL ARRANGEMENT ONLY - Please email art@armofthesea.org for more info
THE REJUVENARY RIVER CIRCUS is an allegorical tale that follows Malakai, the water carrier and messenger, as he travels between Mountain Peaks and the Deep Blue Sea. Along his journeys, Malakai encounters a host of creatures that have a role in the ecosystem of a watershed, including a lyrical sea turtle, a fast-talking crow, a pair of industrious beavers, filter-feeding oysters, and schools of migrating fish. Malakai falls ill and his granddaughter Rachel is confronted by the challenge of restoring her grandfather, Malakai the River, back to health.
This lyrical show features over three dozen mask & puppet characters, great live music, and a gorgeous hand-printed bio-morphic set design. The show runs 50 min. in length and is ideally suited for family audiences, arts-in-education settings and watershed celebrations. It can be presented on a stage, a large room or out-of-doors. Production of the show was made possible with support from the Hudson River Improvement Fund. It originally premiered in 2012 and has toured extensively.
