Cesar is a young man from Central America who heads North looking for work. When he can’t pay the Coyote who has smuggled him into the United States, Cesar finds himself tangled in a web of difficulties, fighting for his dignity and very survival. This poignant bilingual drama features Nueva Cancion music from Latin America combined with vivid mask & puppet characters in Arm-of-the-Sea’s signature style. In the Food Chain of an Immigrant Nation he struggles for dignity and survival.
La Cosecha grew out of a series of workshops Arm-of-the-Sea conducted with migrant farmworker families. The show premiered in 2006, with subsequent re-stagings in 2011 & 2016. Performance credits include: University of Dayton (OH), Cornell University (NY), SUNY Ulster (NY), SUNY New Paltz (NY), St. Peter’s College (NJ), SUNY Brockport (NY), The Clearwater Festival, & the Hudson Valley Garlic Festival.
La Cosecha is presented in Spanish & English by a company of five performers and is 60 minutes in length and appropriate for ages 10 & up.
